What is the goal here? its not elevation, its preservation

There has been some confusion as to what I am really trying to accomplish with this site. Its not to get the best sounding version neccesarily of all the shows that exist. It is to preserve the lowest gen possible of the show from the ideal source (many shows have different sources) and capture if forever on digital medium. I know some find this different from there own goals and that might be fine, I just want everyone to understand where I come from..thats how I define "best version"

What gets me excited about picking up a show, is you say I taped it or I got a first gen and this is how it was taped. Then take that version and put it to CDr. beyond normalzing it, dropping tracks, and fading in 2 seconds front and back of each CD, im letting the CD stand on its own whenver possible. The reason is simply this, after trading for many years, I have learned there are as many different perceptions on what "sounds great" as there are shows U2 have played. So simply by preserving the master, its almost like a DVD type toy. Here is the raw data, now screw with it however you want. But with this theory, say your a guy who loves pounding bass, more than the average guy. Well, if you got an enhaced version of something where the person who enhanced it didnt like bass, you have to overcompensate for that when your doing your personal car stereo mix.Why not just have the ability to start from square 1 every time.

This theory ultimately if adhered to, theoretically would eliminate the problem of there being 10 versions of the same show, basically all peoples different perceptions on what is good and what is bad. In theory, whoever got the show, would always have the raw data to do what they want with it

In a dream world where this project is "complete" i would look at every U2 show from 1987 knowing I have a direct copy off the master on CDR. It would essentially be the equivalent to having taped all the shows myself, and others would be in the same situation. Want a bassy mix of Los Angeles 87, then make one for youself, want a super high end of Paris 87, make a copy for yourself...But you would always be able to do it from the original starting posistion,

Hope this clears up some of my goals on what I am trying to do here
